Greetings! I’ll be playing sax and piano this Thursday 8/23 at 9pm with Rana Farhan at DROM in good ‘ol NYC. Click here for tickets! This is Rana’s first performance with her full band in NYC in nearly two years! Rana and her guitarist/musical director Steve Toub have recently released their latest album – “Rana Farhan: Talkin’ ‘Bout Love” and so this is a CD release concert of sorts. I had the pleasure of playing saxophone, piano, and organ on several of the tracks on the album, which I think is some of Rana’s strongest work to date.
If you’re not familiar with Rana’s music – give it a listen! She sings in Farsi, but the music is jazz/blues/rock grooves. A very unique fusion of Persian and Western influences that makes her a sensation in her native Iran and in the global Persian music scene. She has shared her music around the world with performances in Dubai, France, Canada, Great Britian, and throughout the US. I’m proud to be part of her band!
Also joining Rana for the evening is Steve Toub on guitar, Joe Abba on drums and Trifon Dimitrov on bass. It’s going to be a great night so come on out and join in on the fun!
