Japanese pianist and composer Eishin Nose joins forces with the experimental trio Snapdragon for two new digital releases now available on all major streaming platforms.
The first release, 8, presents a set of original compositions by Eishin Nose, blending lyricism, spontaneity, and adventurous ensemble interplay. Rooted in contemporary jazz while embracing open improvisation and cross-cultural collaboration, the album captures the group’s dynamic conversational approach in the studio.
The second release, EPIC FREENESS – EPIC FREAK, explores the other side of the project entirely: fully improvised performances shaped in real time through collective listening, texture, momentum, and risk-taking. The recording documents an unfiltered creative dialogue between the musicians, moving fluidly between abstraction, groove, intensity, and space.
The ensemble features Eishin Nose on piano, Travis Sullivan on alto saxophone, and Bob Meyer on drums.
Both recordings were captured during sessions in New York and reflect an ongoing artistic collaboration between Japanese and New York creative jazz traditions.
